Auld Ocean — Mountain Gin Series

One of the few distilleries on earth to grow their own grain, Auld Distillery’s Ocean — Mountain Gin series is created with ingredients sourced from the farm and surrounding Southland region.

Studio Narrative has been involved with Auld Distilleries brand from the very beginning. This particular project involved packaging design for three unique gins that tell a terroir story of Southland as well as a packaging system that could house all 3 gins in one gift box.

The packaging comes alive with strong typography finished in a copper floating foil and background artwork by New Zealand artist Jane Blackmore. Jane’s art evokes the dynamic ever changing nature of the southern landscape.

The driving essence of the Auld Distillery brand is curiosity and exploration, and with the knowledge that our audience delights in discovery, we designed the packaging to take them through an unboxing that resembles a miniature journey of discovery.

This project is a New Zealand Best Awards Finalist 2023.
